met — Terms of Use

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using met, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Your account

An account needs a first name, a unique username, a birth date and a gender. We do not ask for a phone number or an email address.

You are responsible for what is posted under your username.
Your username is how people add you deliberately. Share it with people you actually want to compare histories with.
Give an accurate birth date. It determines whether you can use Crossed Paths, and giving a false one to reach an 18+ area is a breach of these terms.
In this version an account lives on your device. Deleting the app or changing phone can lose it.

3. Age requirements

You must be at least 13, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher, to use met at all.

Crossed Paths is 18+. The optional discovery layer is available only to people aged 18 and over. This is checked against the birth date on your account, not only against a confirmation you tick. If we learn that a discovery profile belongs to someone under 18, it is removed.

4. How you may use met

Use met for what it is: seeing where your own past overlaps with someone who has agreed to compare with you. You may not:

Harass, threaten, deceive, stalk or impersonate anyone.

Try to work out another person's home, workplace, exact location or identity from what the app shows you.

Use met to monitor another person, whether or not they have consented to a comparison.

✕

Advertise, sell, promote, or ask people for money.

✕

Scrape, automate, reverse-engineer or interfere with the app or its service.

✕

Create an account on someone else's behalf, or use one after being removed.

5. Content you provide

Photos you add to a discovery profile must be of you, and you must have the right to use them. No photos of other people, no logos, drawings, screenshots or text posters.
Your short line is 32 characters and must not contain a phone number, an email address, a social handle or a link.
You keep ownership of what you upload. You grant met the limited permission it needs to store your photo and show it to other users of Crossed Paths — nothing more, and it ends when you delete the profile.
Content that breaks these terms may be removed without notice.

6. Community rules

These apply everywhere in met, and you accept them before entering Crossed Paths:

Use your own photos. Do not impersonate anyone.
No nudity or sexually explicit content.
No violent content, hate speech, harassment or threats.
No spam, advertising, selling, or soliciting money.
No contact details in your discovery line.
No under-18s in Crossed Paths.
Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.

7. Blocking and reporting

Every discoverable profile and every conversation carries a report action and a block action. Blocking someone hides them across the whole app — discovery, likes, chats and people — cancels anything pending between you, and stops further contact.

Reports are reviewed by a person. Reporting in bad faith, or to silence someone who has done nothing wrong, is itself a breach of these terms.

8. What met does not promise

A crossing is a possibility, not a fact. It means two coarse histories overlapped in the same area within a time window. It is not proof that two people saw each other, that either was at a specific address, or that anything happened at all. Please do not treat it as evidence of anything, and do not present it to anyone else as such.

met depends on photos that carry location labels. If your camera did not save them, there is nothing to compare, and that is not a fault.
Place names come from a mapping service and can be wrong or missing.
met does not run automatic nudity or explicit-content detection. Photo checks confirm that a face is visible; the rest is handled by people reviewing reports.
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.

9. No purchases

This version of met has no subscriptions, no purchases and no paid features. There is nothing to cancel, nothing to restore, and no part of the app is withheld until you pay. Everything the app can do, it does for everyone.

10. Suspension

We may limit or remove access — to Crossed Paths, or to met entirely — if these terms or the community rules are broken. Serious cases, such as content involving minors, threats, or impersonation, are acted on immediately and without warning.

11. Ownership

met, its name, its design and its software belong to us. These terms give you permission to use the app; they do not transfer any ownership. Your own content stays yours.

12. Liability

To the extent the law allows, met is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, from another person's conduct, or from the accuracy of any crossing, place name or date shown. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

met is a way of noticing coincidences. Deciding whether, when and how to meet another person is yours, and so is the responsibility to do it safely.

13. Ending your use

You can delete your derived history, your discovery profile, or your whole account from Settings at any time. Deleting your account removes the account, the history, your connections, their reports and your discovery profile, on the device and on the server.

14. Changes

We may update these terms when the app or the law changes, and the “last updated” date will change with them. Continuing to use met after an update means you accept the new version.
